spring/summer 2012 collection

After taking Malaysian fashion scene by storm with its debut collection (Conakry), TSAR Asia – the brainchild of celebrity shoes and accessories designer Wan Sariah Wan Jaafar – is back to satiate fashionistas' craving for everything tribal with her new spring/summer 2012 collection.

Imbued in the ethereal spirit of Africana, the designer takes its coveters to delve further into the beautiful horizons of the Western African country of Ghana. Located in the western part of the African continent and count the southern Atlantic Ocean and Côte D'Ivoire on the west, Ghana boasts verdant tropical jungles, beautiful seascapes and culturally diverse – all perfectly displayed in the traditional motifs and engaging colours that graced every yard used in the new collection.

"Ghana is an inspiring land. At every inch of the land you could feel the vibration, the harmonious spirit emanated by various tribes that made up its vast society and of course, the well-preserved heritage and folk arts," says brand founder Wan Sariah. "Due to the natural charm, as well as its magical appeal, I have decided to commemorate it into a collection of shoes and accessories that can be easily paired with this season's must haves such as Burberry's tribal-print knotted skirt and raffia jackets."

Soaked in multitude of hues and storied patterns, handed down from one generation to another, TSAR Asia's spring/summer 2012 collection boasts a plethora of shoes and bags every fashionistas would certainly die for. In the shoes department for instance, the heel-less peep-toed Donyen shoes with long straps and ivory-hued wooden soles are enough to melt the heart of Lady Gaga.

The Bassa flats, which makes a perfect complement to that summer's de rigueur sundresses; Dama and Dama Deux – patterned fabric wedges with patent leather wedges embodying both resplendence and contemporary feel and the Vivienne Westwood-inspired Farmatta, which is crafted from printed fabric in ripe green with opulent touch of leather at the shoe's counter and toebox are meant for those who the trendsetter in their own right. As for the girls next door, strappy yet sexy open toed Mattata wedges, as well as the eye-catching and quirky Sundaymah platform heels and the elegant peeped toed Zoe are just the right pairs for you.

These fabulous shoes are then paired with a slew of glamorous clutches such as Yeanue and Zokaya. Yeanue for instance, is a mesmerising work of art in its own right, thanks to the beautiful illustration of the universe with speckles of gold paint dots dotting all over the fabric, just like a constellation of stars. Zokaya on the other hand, represents the richness of Ghana's flora that is endemic to the country. Like Yeanue, the clutch is also doused in speckles of gold paint dots, thus perfectly adds some zest into your cocktail look.

Capturing the spirit of TSAR Asia's new collection is the appointment of DJ Natalie of Hitz.FM and HItz.TV as the face of the brand.

"Natalie embodies the spirit of TSAR woman – bold, fearless and exotic," Wan Sariah comments on Natalie's appointment. "Furthermore, add in her position as an up and coming public figure, as well as her alluring beauty, rest assured she will be able to take TSAR brand to a higher level."
